Gracelyn (almost 9) was diagnosed with focal epilepsy due to a focal cortical dysplasia in January of 2025. She has had a year and a half of so many changes. Appointments, pokes and prods, diet changes, awful medication side effects, loss of control in so many areas, the emotions of being “different” from other people…obviously you know this all too well, even more so.
She had been seizure free until the last couple months I started to notice seizures again when she woke up. We had an inpatient EEG already planned for March 31st. This time going in for Gracelyn, she was actually looking forward to it. She doesn’t hate all the attention, activities, and room service 😉 We went in a little nervous, knowing likely she was having seizures again. The verse God gave me this time going in was Psalm 27:13-14:
I would have lost heart unless I had believed that I would see the goodness of the Lord in the land of the living. Wait on the Lord; be of good courage, And He shall strengthen your heart; wait, I say, on the Lord!
He is our strength, our hope, He is good even in the challenges, and I believe we will see His goodness in the land of the living. He is writing Gracelyn’s beautiful story. I have seen her faith grown so much in this last year as she has wrestled, worshipped, prayed, and relied on Him.
This time when we walked in, we received a Hope Box. Words can’t express the look on my daughter’s face when Sarah opened the box to show her and demonstrate how she could put her very own EEG on Hope. She felt like the most special little girl in the whole wide world. It brought tears to my eyes to see my daughter full of joy over something that has brought us so many tears over the last year and a half. She sleeps with her Hope blanket and Hope dog every night still. She is a special girl and I want to thank you SO much for bringing HOPE and COURAGE to so many kiddos.
